Another update in regards to Ack Ack Ack issue 3

Here's a couple of RED DONS photos that didn't make the final cut for the upcoming issue of Ack Ack Ack.  Wish they would come and play shows in LA again / soon.

From a house show in Monterrey Park, CA from July 2008.

The two B&W photos above are from their show at the Smell the night after the  house show from above.

Update on ACK ACK ACK #3....

About half way finished with putting together issue #3 of ACK ACK ACK. As it stands now, the photos of the bands that are already placed in this issue are: SPAZZ, DIE MONITOR BATSS, GOGOGO AIRHEART, AND E.T.A.. I have a few more bands to add, obviously. This next week will be spent choosing and scanning images of the yet to be decided bands. I'm thinking of including the Oath, Behead The Prophet NLSL, Red Dons, and/or Limp Wrist. Maybe Life's Halt? Or Paintbox?

For now, here's a couple of GoGoGo Airheart photos that didn't make this issue. And it's not that I think any less of these images. In fact, I really like them. It's just a matter of space... And for the story on these photos; These were shot at the eviction party for Three-One-G on April 13, 2002. A lot of bands played that night. Of the ones I was able to see, I was most impressed by these guys.

Four places you can pick up the new issue of Ack Ack Ack...

I also sent out copies to No Way Records / Vinyl Conflict in Richmond, VA. So check with them in the next week or so.

ACK ACK ACK #3 underway. Part 2. Some rejects...

Started laying out issue three tonight. Everything is very rough at the moment, obviously. But it's looking like it could come together pretty quick, and come out by December.
This photo and the one below were taking at the Smell on June 28, 2002. I believe this was the only time they toured on the West Coast

Here's a couple E.T.A. photos that didn't make the cut.

ACK ACK ACK #3 is now in the works, and issue #2 is still available.

Okay, this past weekend I started gathering images for issue 3 of Ack Ack Ack. Planning to have it out by the first of 2011, if not by the end of this year. I'll post a line-up of who's in it by December. For now, here's a photo of Scholastic Deth, who are going to be in this issue. This photo is from their final show, which was at Mission Records. Remember when it was a big deal for bands to play their final show?

Also, the fanzine I've been slowly working on should be out by the first of the year as well. And then there's another project I'll announce when there's a bit more work completed.

ACK ACK ACK #2 is NOW AVAILABLE!!!!

After a long delay, the new issue is finally out. I decided to not screen print the covers this time around. Simply because it would take that much longer to get this out. I'd rather just get the zine out and move on the next issue, and other projects that are on the table.
So, for those interested, here's what's up with this issue:
40 pages.
Photocopied.
5 1/2 x 8
$5.00 ppd.
Only 100 copies made.

If interested, get in touch. You can paypal or send payment through the mail.

Bands in this issue are:
Wrangler Brutes
Hellshock
The Rites
No Hope For The Kids
Tear It Up
Assfort
Cut The Shit
Born Dead Icons
Kid Congo
Romantic Gorilla

Below are some samples scanned direct from the zine:
Cut The Shit made the cover this time around.
Spread from the Born Dead Icons section.
Tear It Up from their 2002 tour.
Assfort from their two Gilman shows. The photo on the bottom right was also the cover for their EP on Prank Records.
Would you believe the third issue is in the planning stages?

Ack ACK ACK #2 almost complete.

I'll announce the complete line-up for this issue in a week or so. But I should have everything placed tonight, and will spend the next few days getting all the little details worked out, then it's complete.

For now, here's some more Tear It Up pictures that didn't make the cut.

Would you believe the Ack Ack Ack #3 is starting to get planned out?

Two posts in one week!!

Okay, I just finished selecting the last couple bands to fill the remaining pages of the second issue of Ack Ack Ack. One of those bands is Tear It Up. I've posted a photo that didn't make the cut. This photo was from what turned out to be their final tour in 2002. Of all the Y2K thrash bands, Tear It Up is the one that has aged quite well. Never whacky, no hollow poses. I guess you could say they were the real deal.
All that is left for this issue is laying out the covers, printing the covers (another screen printed job), writing an intro and some minor details and it should be out.
I'm thinking of printing somewhere between 50 to 100 copies.
Keep checking back periodically for updates.

after well over a year....

Alright, I should have put out the second issue of Ack Ack Ack last year. Obviously, it didn't happen. No real reason why. I'm more into hitting the skatepark than being productive on any level it seems lately. I'm working to change that though. Spent the past couple months scanning the negatives from the 2000 European tour for the Oath. I'll start sorting through all the photos soon and hopefully have something to show for it all sometime in the summer.
As for Ack Ack Ack #2.... working on the cover lately, and I have a few more pages to fill. In time, in time. Maybe I'll have it finished in a couple weeks. It's just choosing the bands to put in there.
I do know Born Dead Icons are going to be in it. I've included a color shot I took of them at their first show in Los Angeles back in 2002. They were a great band, nice bunch of guys, and to this day I'm glad I had the opportunity to see them live. Alright, more sooner than later...
